Pita Wild C.
Pita Wild is a multidisciplinary artist based for more than ten years in Oaxaca (Mexico). Her work is mainly rooted in painting and printmaking and refers to nature, the human condition and how both subjects are interconnected.
Since she was a child, Pita was terrified by adult life. She didn't want to grow up and was afraid of routine. Art placed her in a scenario where she felt comfortable and in tune with her day-to-day life. She studied a double degree in graphic arts and pedagogy at the University of Ostravská in the Czech Republic: "There is a convergence between the industrial character and the interest in art in this region; the cultural offer is immense. However, tradition and close-minded ideas give this place a rough character, engaging countless taboos".
From this context, Pita finds a source of liberation through the body and the stories she can tell using specific postures and corporal expressions. Reconnecting with these parameters is fundamental for the artist, as she believes we are completely unaware of our anatomy.

Pita began her journey through Mexico convinced by a friend. She first settled in Nayarit, a small state in the west of the country, where she painted the nature she came across and then sold her work on the local beaches. She also founded, along with other artists, a community called Los Rústicos, that was tragically destroyed by a flood that forced Wild to start again from scratch.
After this unfortunate event, the artist decided to continue her journey, making a living by selling her drawings and small wooden sculptures. This trip ended in Oaxaca, where she currently lives. She started in an artist's barnyard where, by chance, she met a former colleague from an exchange programme in Slovakia. Within this creative atmosphere, events, exhibitions and performances emerged. She also became involved in techniques such as lithography and engraving, which remain her main artistic channels up to the present day.

"I have always been persistent and have tried to establish a personal style, as I believe it is important to break away from the conventional and be authentic and critical with my work. The character acquired by an artwork flows over time; it transforms and evolves but there is always a common motif with previous pieces.

One of her main sources of inspiration is nature: "Our surroundings are always changing, they look different every time you look at them. One of my great influences is Gauguin. He decided to travel to find the light and the colours his work needed, being a true devotee of his art".

Pita Wild es una artista multidisciplinar que reside y trabaja desde hace más de diez años en Oaxaca, México. Su labor está sostenida por la pintura y el grabado, haciendo siempre alusión a la naturaleza, a la condición humana y a la manera en que ambas materias se entrelazan entre sí.
Desde pequeña, a Pita le aterraba la vida adulta, no quería crecer, le daba miedo la rutina. El arte la posiciona en un escenario en el que realmente se siente cómoda y en mayor sintonía y dinamismo con su día a día. Estudió en República Checa (en la Universidad de Ostravská) un doble grado en Artes Gráficas y Pedagogía: “En esta región existe una convergencia entre el carácter industrial y el interés por el arte; hay una oferta cultural muy amplia. Sin embargo, la tradición y los comportamientos sistemáticos dotan al lugar de un carácter rudo, con innumerables tabúes.”
A partir de este contexto, Pita encuentra un canal de liberación a través del cuerpo, de las historias que puede contar mediante las posturas y la expresión corporal. Reconectar con estos parámetros es fundamental para la artista, ya que considera que vivimos completamente ajenos a nuestra propia anatomía.
Pita comenzó su andadura por tierras mexicanas convencida por una amiga. Primero se asentó en Nayarit, un estado pequeño situado al oeste del país, donde pintaba la naturaleza con la que se iba topando para, posteriormente, vender sus obras en alguna playa local. Además, fundó junto con otros artistas una comunidad llamada Los Rústicos, la cual, una vez construida, fue debastada trágicamente por una inundación que obligó a Wild a comenzar de cero.
Tras este desafortunado suceso, la artista decidió continuar su viaje, ganándose la vida vendiendo sus dibujos y pequeñas esculturas de madera. Esta travesía finalizó en Oaxaca, lugar donde actualmente reside. Sus comienzos se asentaron en una corrala de artistas donde, casualmente, coincidió con un antiguo compañero de un intercambio que realizó en Eslovaquia. Dentro de esta atmósfera creativa surgían eventos, exposiciones e intervenciones performáticas y, además, entró en contacto con técnicas como la litografía y el grabado, que continúan siendo sus principales canales de producción artística hasta la actualidad.
"Siempre he sido constante y he tratado de marcar un estilo personal, ya que considero que es importante desvancarse de lo común; ser auténtica y crítica con el trabajo. El carácter que adquiere una obra artística va confluyendo a lo largo del tiempo, se transforma, evoluciona, pero siempre existe una raíz y un motivo común con lo realizado anteriormente.”
Una de sus fuentes principales de inspiración es la naturaleza:
“El entorno que nos rodea es cambiante, se muestra diferente cada vez que una observa. Uno de mis grandes referentes es Gauguin. Él decidió viajar para encontrar la luz y los colores que su obra necesitaba, era un auténtico deboto de su arte.”
“Actualmente, estoy participando en colectivos de artistas femeninas que tratan de visibilizar nuestra obra y participación en la industria.”
“Ser artista supone un gran sacrificio y conlleva dedicar tu vida estrictamente a ello. Si no nos comprometemos en ese proceso vital, se convierte en un hobby. Personalmente, considero que el arte se manifiesta en todos los aspectos vitales, nos acompaña en cada momento y acción.”
